Your situation
Does this sound like what happened?
These are some of the circumstances we can consider. You can still ask for an assessment if your experience is different.
- Travelling in a private car or van
- Taxi and private-hire journeys
- Bus, coach or other public transport incidents
- Accidents involving more than one potentially responsible driver
What we will talk through
We will ask which vehicle you were in, who was driving, how the collision happened and whether any other passengers were injured.
You need not choose who to blame
Where responsibility is unclear, the relevant insurers and evidence may need to be considered before a view can be reached.
Family and friends
A potential claim can sometimes involve the insurer of someone you know. We can explain the practical position before you decide whether to proceed.
Injuries & losses
The effect on your everyday life matters.
Tell us about your symptoms, recovery and the practical changes since the accident. Depending on the evidence and legal route, a claim may consider the injury alongside related losses such as:
- Lost earnings during recovery
- Medical appointment and travel expenses
- Damaged personal belongings
- Reasonable care or practical assistance required because of the injury
These are possible categories, not guaranteed payments. The evidence, responsibility and applicable rules determine what can be recovered.
Useful evidence
Start with what you have.
You do not need a complete file before speaking to us. Keep original documents and recordings where possible. The following can help:
- 01
The registration and driver details for vehicles involved
- 02
Ticket, booking or journey information where relevant
- 03
Witness details, photographs or available video footage
- 04
Medical treatment information and evidence of financial impact
Keep the details in one place.
Use the practical accident checklist to organise what you have and note what is missing.

Understand the route before you choose it.
Tell the firm what happened
Explain the incident, your injuries and any contact with insurers or other representatives.
Explore the available options
The team can consider the information, the possible route and what further enquiries may be needed.
Decide whether to proceed
If the firm can act, review the proposed next steps and funding terms before giving instructions.
The costs conversation
No Win, No Fee
May be available, subject to eligibility and terms. Ask about any potential costs, deductions and relevant insurance before choosing to proceed.
Understand the funding termsCommon questions
A little clarity before you decide.
What if the driver was a friend or family member?
We understand why this can feel uncomfortable. A claim may involve the insurance of someone you know. Tell us about the relationship and your concerns so we can explain who a potential claim would involve before you make a decision.
I was in a taxi or bus. What details should I keep?
Keep your booking confirmation or ticket, the operator’s name, the route and approximate journey time. A vehicle registration, driver details and witness information can also help. If you do not have everything, start with what you remember.
What if both drivers blame each other?
You do not have to settle the dispute yourself. Your account, the vehicles involved and the available evidence can be considered together. More than one insurer may need to be contacted before responsibility is established.
Ask about the deadline early
For many personal injury claims, court proceedings must usually be started within three years, but the correct deadline depends on the facts and exceptions can apply. Contacting us does not stop time running. Seek advice promptly rather than relying on a general deadline.
